  • What can I anticipate during an osteopathic treatment?
During your osteopathic treatment, you can anticipate a personalised and holistic approach to your health care. Your initial one-hour consultation will include a comprehensive assessment that encompasses a detailed case history and a thorough structural evaluation, followed by treatment. As part of this assessment, we may ask you to perform simple movements, which aids in a better understanding of the issue at hand. The treatment itself often involves gentle manual techniques, including soft tissue, stretching, mobilisation, muscle activation, and other specific osteopathic techniques, all tailored to your unique needs. These techniques are designed to restore balance, enhance mobility, and relieve discomfort. We may also use subtle methods that are so gentle you may hardly feel them. Your comfort during the treatment is a top priority, and if you ever experience discomfort, your practitioner will make adjustments to ensure you're at ease. Please wear comfortable and flexible clothing, such as a tank top and shorts, to facilitate the evaluation and treatment. In some cases, the session may incorporate guided movements or specific exercises to accelerate your progress. Additionally, We may recommend home exercises or tasks to support your recovery. Follow-up sessions range from thirty to forty five minutes, or an hour depending on the individuals presentation and specific requirements. The number of required treatments often depends on the issue's duration and severity, with many patients reporting significant improvements within just 2-3 sessions. For individuals looking to prevent recurring issues or those with chronic conditions, periodic maintenance treatments offer a proactive approach. It is advisable to schedule checkups every 4-6 weeks or 2-6 months for ongoing care and wellness, with the exact schedule tailored to the individual's age, overall health, daily activities, and specific needs. Kindly ensure you bring any imaging materials (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, CT scans), test results, and relevant medical notes to your appointment. Additionally, please provide a list of your current medications or supplements. We look forward to working with you on a collaborative journey toward better health and well-being, with the ultimate goal of helping you return to the activities you enjoy.
